The humans keep tortoises as well as we cats. Strange things, really. We do like to inspect them from time to time, just to make sure that the motor is still running, but they provide little in the way of fun for us. Last Thursday they were left outside accidentally over night. The following morning, Jess was missing. As there had been badgers digging around it was presumed that he had been taken and eaten. Badgers can do this apparently. Worried about what might have happened to him, they put notices in neighbours’ doors asking for any news if he was seen – or, worse, evidence that he had been eaten.
Today, two days later, a neighbour brought him back, having discovered him stomping across their lawn. Everyone here is relieved – which means life will be a little easier again…
Here he is, none the worse for his adventure:

The gasmen had to repair a gas pipe outside the drive this week. Thutmose thought that he would check the work out. Mind you, there are those that believe he was just using the barriers as a lurking spot to watch out for other cats.

Then he just spent some time lurking in the driveway – between bouts of feeding his face.
